Tax Cuts & Petrol Prices in Australia
Australia's petrol prices are climbing to AU$1.50 and rising with motorists feeling the added cost each week. The latest federal budget has been released which promises tax cuts across the board to help ease the climbing price of fuel, with high income earners netting almost $120 extra a week, average income earners getting about $10 and low income earners just $7 a extra a week.
The Government have been quick to assure motorists that the tax breaks will help out by putting more money into peoples pockets, while defending their decision not to reduce the 38.1 cents in the liter fuel excise. Motoring groups have shown concern stating in the last year the average cost of filling up the tank has risen by $20 a week and the government needs to do more.
