Your own research is always the key to making a good investment but many also rely on advice from professionals such as stock brokers to tell them what they should be buying.
But as usual the investor should always be on their toes because brokers wont always sell you what's best for you, or hot mutual funds that have performed well in recent times may be at the end of their run. Research is always needed to find investments that have performed well over the long run or are managed by people that have a good track record.
