BRW Rich List 2006

The Australian business magazine, the Business Review Weekly (BRW) has released it's list of the 200 richest people in Australia.
The Packer name still holds the number one position, but this year it is James Packer rather than usual Kerry Packer at the top. James has taken over the media giant Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL) after the death of his father Kerry.
The mining boom in Australia has also created the first female billionaire in the country, with Gina Rinehart doubling her fortune. Reinehart took over her late father Lang Hancock's mining company and is now the 8th richest person in Australia with $1.8 billion.
