Covey was born in Salt Lake City on 24th October 1932 and has spent most
of his life in the area, now living with his family in the Rocky Mountains,
Utah. During his career Covey has received a BS in Business Administration
from the University of Utah, an MBA in Business Administration from Harvard
University, a DRE in Church History and a Doctorate from Brigham Young University.Covey is widely acknowledged as one of the world's leading authorities on the subject of time-management. He has spent most of his career at Brigham Young University, where he was a professor of organizational behavior and business management. He is also the founder of the Covey Leadership Center in Salt Lake City and is the half of the Franklin-Covey Corporation, which makes planners and organizers and does management consulting. . Organizations across the world, including many Fortune 500 companies, use his techniques on leadership, teamwork, and customer-focused service. Covey is best known for his self-help book "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" which was first published in 1989 and has since sold more than 12 million copies word-wide. Subsequent titles are similar in ways to his first book; "First Things First" which is a best selling time management book looks at time-management strategies and new ways of looking at priorities. "Principle-Centered Leadership" looks at character traits and "inside-out" ways of improving organizational leadership. Covey being a Mormon, has also written two religious books, "The Spiritual Roots of Human Relations" and "The Divine Center". Covey has also received the Thomas More College Medallion for continuing service to humanity and has additionally been awarded four honorary doctorate degrees.
